At the Saitoh Lab, we study how people receive, understand, and use health and medical information in decision-making.

Our research focuses particularly on vaccination and preventive health, with an emphasis on health communication, vaccine hesitancy, health-related decision-making, information presentation, and the use of AI in health information and communication.

Health and medical decisions are shaped not only by scientific evidence, but also by how information is communicated and interpreted, as well as by individual values, prior experiences, and interactions with others.

Our goal is not simply to provide evidence-based information, but to identify communication approaches that help people understand information, reflect on their options, and make informed decisions that they can feel confident about.

We also explore new approaches to health communication and decision support using AI and digital technologies.
